The Dino Game, also known as Chrome Dino, T-Rex Runner, or simply the Dinosaur Game, is one of the most iconic hidden games on the internet. Originally created by Google in 2014, this endless runner game appears when users lose internet connection while using the Chrome browser. Over the years, what started as a small Easter egg has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, played by millions of people both online and offline.

The dino game was first introduced in September 2014 as part of Google Chrome’s offline error page. Instead of frustrating users with a simple “No Internet” message, Google’s developers added a playful twist by embedding a game into the browser. Designed by Sebastien Gabriel and the Chrome UX team, the dinosaur was chosen as a symbol of the “prehistoric” times before Wi-Fi existed.
