So I've been poking around Odysee lately. If you haven't heard of it, it's a video platform that's trying to be a decentralized alternative to YouTube.
The main thing that makes it different is that it runs on something called the LBRY blockchain. This means videos aren't stored on a single company's server, which makes it harder for content to get taken down. For creators, that's a big selling point.
Another interesting part is how you can make money on it. Instead of just relying on ads, creators can get tips and paid subscriptions using the platform's own cryptocurrency (LBRY Credits or LBC). It's not as big as YouTube, and the whole crypto-wallet thing can be a bit of a hurdle, but it's a cool experiment in giving creators more control.
If you're curious about how the tech actually works in more detail, this glossary article explains it pretty well: https://paybis.com/blog/glossary/odysee/
