Slot performance over time

Many players notice that different slots feel different even with similar rules. What parameters shape this feeling, and how do volatility, RTP, and bonus frequency influence a slot's long-term performance?

The main thing that shapes your impression of a slot is the variance: with high volatility, you can sit in the red for a long time even with a normal RTP. RTP describes the average payout over the long run, and the frequency of bonuses just spreads that payout over time, so makkil6’s idea that bonuses are already included in the RTP makes sense to me. I’ve compared the feeling with live games a couple of times, and you can see there too that frequent small wins calm you down, while rare big ones mess with your nerves: on https://xxxtremeroulette.com/ I was figuring out the rules and it became clearer why you perceive streaks differently. It’s a similar story in andar bahar, on https://andarbahargames.com/ I saw that waiting for a “special event” doesn’t add any math, it just changes the rhythm. And in funky time on https://funkytimegame.org/ I caught the same thought: it’s more important to understand the distribution of wins than to treat bonuses as some separate gift.
