Specific groups enjoy additional protection. Domestic workers are safeguarded under Federal Decree-Law No. 21 of 2023, while people of determination (persons with disabilities) are covered by Federal Law No. 29 of 2006, which ensures equal opportunities and inclusion in both public and private sectors. Resolution No. 43 of 2018 further strengthens employment rights for people of determination, and Cabinet decisions clarify the criteria for “work of equal value” to support fair pay practices. These protections extend across recruitment, promotions, wages, benefits, and termination, ensuring that no employee is dismissed due to pregnancy or maternity leave and that all workers are shielded from harassment in any form.
For enforcement, employees can file complaints with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). If disputes are unresolved, they can proceed to labour courts, and in severe cases, criminal prosecution may follow. Employers found in breach face fines, sanctions, or harsher penalties depending on the severity of the violation. These legal protections work alongside other employment rights, including UAE End-of-Service Benefits, creating a wider framework that supports fairness and equality in the workplace.
