I’m more of a sports betting person, but a mate from work in Australia wouldn’t shut up about his weekend pokie runs, so I followed his tip and opened Pokie Spins on my phone. I started with low-volatility slots to keep my balance alive, and it actually worked for a while: lots of small hits, nothing crazy. Then I got greedy, upped the stake and watched the meter melt. Just before I rage-quit, a random bonus round dropped and clawed most of it back. Since then I stick to small stakes and treat it as background fun while watching footy.
