I have been using SantaBarbaraYP as a Local Business Directory for quite some time now, and I can say that it is a really great alternative to global search engines. When I first heard about the site, I was also wondering how convenient it was at all - after all, it seemed that global services like Yelp or Google were still better. But then I realized that for finding a business in our area, this is a real find. Why? First of all, SantaBarbaraYP really focuses exclusively on Santa Barbara. When you search for local businesses through large search engines, you sometimes get businesses that are located outside of our city or even state, and this, of course, is not always convenient. For example, I was looking for a company that repairs household appliances. Google showed me a bunch of stores in other cities, and I would have to filter for a long time to find something closer. On SantaBarbaraYP, I immediately got a list of specialists within the city, and I did not have to waste time selecting. As for the features, I really like that this site allows you to easily sort all the businesses by category. For example, if I need to find a company to install air conditioners, I don’t waste time on unnecessary clicks, but immediately find all the companies that deal with this issue. Moreover, this site has very convenient filters that allow you to choose not only the business category, but also such parameters as “family business” or “works with environmental initiatives”. This is very important if you want to support local companies or make a choice in favor of a more “ethical” business.
