With the development of products and injection molding technology, molding equipment is also constantly innovating and developing. The development of modern injection molding machine focuses on improving the level of control and machine automation, as well as machine optimization design and improvement of processing technology to meet the quality requirements on injection molding machine and energy-saving. The development trend of modern injection molding machine can be summarized as the following.

1,Functional specialization and low price in production. Due to product shape and plastic varieties, there are often some special requirements for the injection machine. For example, as to the product side, some with inserts, while some no, some single color, some double; as to the plastic varieties, some are thermoplastic, some are thermo-setting plastic. Therefore, there is demand for the development according to users’ requirements for special injection machine, with a high cost performance, technology-intensive and simplified structure and so on, for instance, gas-assisted injection equipment, fusible-core injection equipment, magnet and metal powder injection machines.

2.High-speed, high efficiency and precise opening and closing molds speed. Mold opening and closing speed from 20-30mm / min, increased to 40-50mm / min, and some even up to 60mm / min. Injection speed, from 100mm / s to 450mm / s. For small and medium-sized injection machine, injection rate of 600mm / s is not rare, and some up to 900mm/s.

Mainly based on small and medium-sized injection machines, it is better to develop large, super large, even giant and micro-injection machines. Large injection machines with clamping force of 40MN, 50MN, or even larger has come out. The original West Germany-made injection machine can reach clamping force up to 50 MN, injection volume 24.5kg and injection pressure 140-370MPa. Japan's large-scale injection molding machine can reach clamping force 120MN. At present, ordinary, precision and ultra-precision injection molding machine molding accuracy has reached 0.02-0.05mm, 0.01-0.02mm and less than 0.001mm.

3.Automated production is an important to ensure product quality, increase productivity, reduce labor intensity, improve working conditions, fully play equipment utilization and reduce the cost. At present, many new control devices, such as Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), have replaced traditional relays. Programmer control has reliable operation and the program can be flexibly modified. Microcomputers have been used in the process of injection machine control and process parameters. This new control method for forming precision products is particularly important which can automatically adjust the molding conditions to ensure the product size and quality. For the general machine, the production process from the feeding to removing the product inspection packaging are also automatic. The safety of the machine is ensured by the safety devices, not only can be automated, but also centralized managed, to achieve unattended operation.

4. Other mechanical structure design adopts advanced methods, conception and means. The mold clamping mode mainly are toggle bar and direct pressure type, which improves the mold clamping mechanism and forms the standardized series. Injection machine factories have paid high attention on producing injection machines which are with the following characteristics: appearance and shape optimization design of the mainframe, noise reduction and injection machine supporting equipment standardization, serialization and environment-friendly functions.
